Namdaulatpur upazila of this upazila has been named as the Upazila Parishad was established in Daulatpur village under Daulatpur union.
Daulatpur Upazila is an upazila under Kushtia district Daulatpur area has an area of 461 sq km. Bagha and Lalpur to the north, Gangni and Mirpur on the south, Bheramara and Mirpur upazilas on the east and West Bengal of India on the west. Mathabhanga and Padma are the main rivers of this upazila. There is also another river named Hissana flowing through Daulatpur upazila.
Daulatpur thana was declared as the upazila in 1983. There are 14 unions, 161 mouzas and 242 villages in Daulatpur upazila.
Daulatpur Upazila has a literacy rate of 20.5%; Of which 25% were male and 15.7% female. Educational institutions of this upazila include: College: 11, Secondary School: 45, Government Primary School: 105, Non-Government Primary Schools: 82, Madrasah 35, Vocational Training Center: 1 and Orphanage: 1
